Leak Report

The Leak Report that I provide for FREE with every wash is what transforms the wash into a “Smart” Wash. Even if your Reefers are regularly maintained, any extra leak checks could save you from costly after hours call outs. Leaks are far too common, and they can make a big mess and damage the Reefer if not caught early on. I inspect the inside and out of the Reefer for any major leak’s before I start washing it. Whether it’s Oil, Antifreeze, Diesel, Exhaust Soot, or Refrigerant. With over 15 Years of experience in the industry, I am very familiar with Reefers and where their common leak points are.

Chemicals That I Look For, And Why Every Leak Should Be Repaired ASAP!

Refrigeration systems work at very high pressures, so even a small leak could drain your system very quickly. As well, new environmentally friendly Refrigerants are selling for over $50 a pound, so finding any leak early on is crucial. Refrigeration repairs are also usually very time consuming, so any temperature sensitive loads are at risk if you start running out of Refrigerant.

Exhaust system leaks range from a minor nuisance of a louder sounding Reefer to a much more damaging issue. For example, some have rusted out beside panels, causing the hot exhaust soot to blow onto the panels causing them to start discolouring and even warping. In another example, some have rusted through allowing rain water to enter the engine oil cavity through the exhaust system causing engine damage.

Fuel system leaks are one of the most dangerous leaks that you can have. Although it’s not as explosive as gasoline, it could still cause a fire in the right conditions. A small leak in the fuel pick up line could also lead to the Reefer shutting down while loaded. That could lead to a lost load if it’s not repaired, and the fuel system re pressurized in a timely manner.

Cooling system leaks are usually seen as one of the least worrisome leaks that you can have. But they quickly go from “Low Coolant Level” alarms, to “High Water Temperature Alarms” which can lead to engine damage if not repaired as soon as possible. The coolant overflow tanks are also mounted at the top of the Reefer’s, making them difficult for a truck driver to access in order to refill the system.

Disclaimer: This Report is NOT Meant to Replace a Full Leak Check by a Qualified Technician. If the Reefer Has Any Alarm Codes, the Customer Should Have the Reefer Inspected and Repaired by a Qualified Company BEFORE Arranging A Wash.
